ARRIVING BY CRUISES IN VALENCIA

València is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for cruise ship tourism.  Around 400,000 passengers pass through the city’s port every year. Sailing into València, watching the city slowly come into view, glimpsing the outline of the Veles e Vents building, and if you’re lucky, coinciding with the fishing boats that arrive at port every day at four in the afternoon, is one of the best ways to approach the city.

The port of València has two docks for ships of up to 300 metres in length and another three docks located in the northern extension area for vessels exceeding this size. The latter is equipped with a taxi rank and an internal shuttle service to transport passengers to the main cruise terminal. From there, the city centre can be reached by taxi or by buses 4 or 19, whilst the City of Arts and Sciences is served by bus 95. València is the perfect destination for passengers, since the old quarter is just ten minutes from the cruise port, allowing visitors to make the most of their time in the city.  The Port of València is another of the city’s most important landmarks and is of great interest to cruise passengers. The area underwent radical changes for the holding of the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007 and is now considered one of the most vibrant parts of the city, offering visitors a variety of culinary delights and leisure activities, meanwhile the business park is home to some of the region’s top companies.

The Malvarrosa neighbourhood and its long fine-grained sandy beach still evokes the charm immortalised by Joaquín Sorolla in his paintings. Cruise ship visitors to València may choose to take a stroll along the promenade and take a dip in the clear waters of the Mediterranean before continuing their journey. At both Malvarrosa Beach (next to Hotel Balneario Las Arenas) and in the port (only open during stopovers) you can find tourist information offices where our staff will help you plan your visit to the city. The VLC Tourist Card can be purchased at these TOURIST info points, including free and unlimited access to the public transport network for 24, 48, or 72 hours, in addition to free entry to public museums and monuments, and discounts on museums, shops and restaurants.
