This green area rises over the old gardens of the Old Hospital. Well known because in this place was the old General or Provincial Hospital with various events had its origin in the fifteenth century.

In 2009 the City Council of Valencia and the Provincial Council decided to carry out a project to reorganize these gardens. The architect from Seville, Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, was commissioned to carry out the work that was completed at the end of 2012.

This project aimed to safeguard the architectural elements of the old Renaissance hospital and to create a garden that would place a series of historic buildings that were built on them.

The result has been the creation of a large garden area located in one of the most traffic points in the city and which has been called Archaeological Garden
