In the middle of February 2025, Ontinyent dresses up to host Ontinyent Medieval, a market that brings medieval history and culture to life. With free admission and more than 100 stalls, this event promises a unique experience full of activities, shows and the best traditional cuisine.
History
Organized annually by the Ontinyent Town Council, this market has its roots in the initiative to rescue and highlight the historical traditions of the region. Since its beginnings, it has become an unmissable event for locals and visitors alike, combining handicrafts, live demonstrations of ancient trades and an atmosphere that transports you to another era. In 2025, the event takes on a special meaning as it is held as part of the Mig Any Fester, consolidating its position as one of the most eagerly awaited festivities on the cultural calendar of the Comunitat Valenciana.
Programming and Details
The market will take place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd February 2025, offering an extensive program of activities that will be distributed throughout the emblematic spaces of the historic center of Ontinyent. Below are some of the activities scheduled for the first day:
- Friday, February 21st:
- 7:30 p.m.: Opening parade through the streets of the town center.
- 8:00 p.m.: Official opening of the market in the Plaza de Baix.

The market is held in the historic center of Ontinyent, covering emblematic areas such as the Plaza Mayor, the Regall, the Plaza de Baix and the Vila. It can be reached by bus on the local lines that connect the center with the outlying districts and from Ontinyent Station by train, facilitating access from different points in the Valencian Community.

RULES:
- To participate, you must post a photograph taken at the Medieval Market in Ontinyent from February 21 to 23, 2025, on Instagram. You must follow and tag @lafraguadevulca and include the hashtag #ontinyentmedieval2025.
- The competition ends at 12:00 noon on February 26, 2025.
- A prize of €100 will be awarded to the winning photograph.
- The winning photograph will be judged by La Fragua de Vulcano for its beauty, quality and originality. You can participate with more than one photograph.
- The winner will be announced on the Instagram account of @lafraguadevulca.
- Participants affirm that they are the legal copyright holders of the photographs and transfer all rights of use, without restriction, to the organizing company.
- Any alteration to the mechanics of the competition will result in automatic disqualification.
- Participation implies acceptance of all the rules of the competition.
