You can’t truly discover the essence of València without strolling through the city’s seaside neighbourhoods, where the customs of the former fishermen are still present between small buildings of popular modernism.
The urban beaches of Las Arenas, El Cabanyal and La Malvarrosa, with its Seafront Promenade, and the Marina, which was created for the regattas of the America’s cup, border these neighbourhoods and they are unique places to go for a walk and to enjoy Valencian cuisine.
The city of València boasts beaches furnished with an array of facilities. At any time of the year and just a few minutes out of the city centre, you can find the Arenas and Malvarrosa beaches, accessible via urban bus routes, tram and by car. Why not walk there, or cycle? Just next to them is the Paseo Marítimo, which has become one of the most popular recreational areas. Here, you can enjoy a walk, roller-skating, jogging, sun bathing or stop off at one of the restaurants for a delicious paella or a fresh fish stew.
El Cabanyal Beach (Las Arenas)
Just a few minutes out of the city centre you’ll find the Arenas beach, with its breathtaking Paseo Marítimo, where you can enjoy an authentic Valencian paella, or some seafood tapas. Beside this beach is where the Hotel Las Arenas is located. It’s the ideal location for those who want a little bit of peace and quiet.
La Malvarrosa Beach
Located towards the north of the Arenas beach, its sheer size and fine sand make it the beach to be at. On this beach, you’ll find the recently restored Casa-Museo de Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, which will transport you back to the time when this home-grown writer walked the streets of València.
