Program Faults 2024

The whole of Valencia and Spain is shocked after the terrible fire on Thursday 22nd in El Campanar. And after the reaction of the entire city, the city council announced that the Fallas events scheduled for this weekend will be suspended in the form of a 3-day mourning. In spite of the lack of encouragement in the city, the city council has had to announce the new dates for the suspended events.

This disaster has affected the agenda of events that were scheduled for the coming weeks. In view of this situation, the decision has been made to reorganize the calendar and change the dates of those activities that were affected by this unfortunate event.

The established schedule:

The priority at this time is the recovery and reconstruction of the areas affected by the fire. Although the city council must also readjust the calendar of fallero events so as not to affect the participation of the city and guarantee the success of each activity. The events that are going to be rescheduled are the following: the galas of Culture and Fallera, the combo of Macrodespertà, Entrada de Bandas, llamamiento and Crida, which always means the entrance in fallas. Although it would not be the first time it has been held in March.

The events of the weeks following last Thursday’s event are still in effect with their respective dates, as the mourning does not directly affect them. Therefore, the city council has been reconciling how to distribute the dates of the most important suspended events so that they do not coincide and the city can best enjoy its most emblematic festivities in full.

Weekend events and activities:

  • The mascletà: Friday, March 1, at the town hall square at 14:00. We begin one of the most important traditions most widespread at this time of the year. And that accompanies us until the 19th.
  • Cavalcade of the child: Saturday, March 2, will follow the usual route starting at 17:30 in the Plaza de Alfonso el Magnánimo, to end in Xàtiva street.. Please note the Real Madrid vs. Valencia match in the city due to traffic problems.
  • Awakenings: Sunday, March 3. Programmed by each fallera organization. And at eight o’clock in the evening a fireworks display.
  • Mascletà night and castles: Every night at 00:00 on weekends (except this Sunday 3).

The President of the Junta Central Fallera, Santiago Ballester, meets today to communicate the new fallero calendar that will have the following dates for each act:

Both the Macrodespertà and the Entrada de Bandas and the Crida will take place on Sunday, March 3 at the same time as previously scheduled.

  • 07:15 hours. Children’s Macrodespertá from the Plaza de la Reina.
  • 07:30 a.m. Macrodespertá through the streets of La Paz and San Vicente until reaching the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
  • 08:00 hours (approx.). Mascletà in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and subsequent breakfast.
  • 12:00 noon. Entrance of Bands (The departure will be at 11.30 from the Plaza de Tetuán).
  • 20:00 hours. Crida.

  • Culture Gala: Wednesday, March 6 at the same time it had been scheduled (at 20.30).
  • Gala fallera: To be held on Friday, April 19 at the same time that had scheduled (at 19:30), when there is availability at the fair in Valencia. Recall that it was scheduled for the same Thursday of the fire and that may occur again during the week. But this because it depends on the availability of the theater mainly, it is not the direct decision of the authorities and Junta Central Fallera. Some say that in recent years such celebrations have been losing weight and are very important in the current celebration.

In the midst of the sadness caused by the fire, the Fallas continue to be a celebration full of emotion, tradition and joy. The fallera community has demonstrated its resilience and strength in the face of adversity, and the unity we have seen from the city is a reflection of its determination and unwavering spirit.
