The offering of flowers is one of the most exciting and symbolic moments of the Fallas. For two days, Sunday 17 and Monday 18 March from 15:30 h, the fallera commissions parade along Calle de San Vicente and Calle de la Paz carrying bunches of flowers of different colors to the Plaza de la Virgen each fallera commission, to place them in a huge mantle that creates a unique design each year, paying tribute to the Virgen de los Desamparados, patron saint of the city.
The ?falleras,? dressed? in their best costumes, and accompanied ?by? musicians and other members of ?the? fallera? commission, walk ?solemnly ?towards the Virgin, where they ?place ?the ?bouquets ?of flowers ?with? great care and in order. Each ?fallera? commission has its ?turn ?to pay homage to? the Virgin and offer her its floral offering, each one with its own colors, which you can consult here. The offering of flowers is? the most emotional act next to the “Cremà”, since the ?fallera? structures are ?covered with flowers and each ?fallera? commission? carries flowers of different colors, creating a mosaic ?of colors and aromas. In addition to the falleras, children and other ?members of the commission? also ?participate in? the parade, carrying small bouquets of flowers and petals that they scatter, making the celebration even more colorful.
This tradition of the offering of flowers is a sign of devotion and gratitude ?to the Virgin of the Forsaken,? as well as a way of exhibiting ?floral art? and ?Valencian culture? It is one of the ?most awaited and loved? moments of the Fallas, both for the ?Valencians and for the tourists who come ?to the city during this? celebration. In addition, this year it will be possible to see a Virgin completely restored by the artists Ceballos and Sanabria.
