Get ready for an unforgettable experience in the Marina de València with the “Red Bull Wings Day”! This event, which celebrates creativity and ingenuity, invites participants to design and build their own human-powered flying contraptions. Competitors will launch themselves from a 9-meter-high platform, hoping to break records and amaze the jury with their creativity and showmanship.
Previous editions and records
The current distance record is 78.6 meters, achieved by “The Chicken Whisperers” in California. However, to win, not only the flight distance is considered, but also the creativity of the design and presentation of the equipment before the jump.
Participation and contest rules
Thirty-five teams of 4 or 5 people each participate, and one of them must launch itself into the void with its flying machine. These artifacts, completely homemade, cannot exceed 9 meters high and 10 meters wide, nor weigh more than 200 kilos, including the pilot. The themes of the designs are free, allowing a diversity of ideas ranging from movie characters to tributes to local culture. If you are interested in more information visit the event’s website.
Evaluation and jury
The jury, composed of four elite athletes, will evaluate each contraption, jump and show with ratings from 1 to 10. The “Red Bull Wings Day”, with 12 years of history, has gathered almost 10,000 participants and more than 10 million spectators around the world, celebrating 179 editions in 99 cities.
