CASTELLÓN

Ojos Negros, the longest greenway in Spain

Ojos Negros is the longest greenway in Spain, with 160 km of route (divided into two sections) that passes through Teruel, Castellón and València. Through its roads you can find bridges with dreamy views, villages where you can taste the typical gastronomy, beautiful mountains and plateaus, and reservoirs such as the Pantano del Regajo. One of the places that will surprise you most of the route will be the Paseo de las Fuentes de Jérica, a 6,000 m2 garden with an enviable flora.

Undoubtedly, the Greenway of Ojos Negros is the perfect option to get to know the hidden nature of the Comunitat and get away from the constant bustle of the city.

Ascent to the Penyagolosa, a route to touch the top
The climb to Penyagolosa is a typical route among hiking enthusiasts. The classic path starts at the Barranc de la Pegunta, one of the best preserved gorges of the mountain of Castellón, and continues to climb in a zigzag along a rocky path. Along the way, you will come across the Font Nova and the Font de la Question, and soon after you will reach the top, with an altitude of 1,814 m.

It is a simple route, about 4 hours long, that you can enjoy as a family.

VALENCIA

The suspension bridges, a route in the heights

The Valencian municipality of Chulilla is perfect for hiking. The route of the Hanging Bridges is a simple path of about 2 and a half hours that runs through the Hoces del río Túria. It is an entertaining path, smooth, well signposted and, above all, beautiful. If you have vertigo, get ready: the highest bridge has a height above the river of about 14 meters.

During the route, you will be part of an idyllic natural environment, with plenty of fluvial landscapes to cool off. Also, if you want to extend your route, you can go up to the Puffin, walk along Senda Botánica until you come across the Charco Azul or get closer to the town and enjoy its charm.

Water route of Chelva, a historical path

The Chaleva water route is a circular path that unites nature and culture. During the three-hour walk, you will find different areas for bathing of undeniable beauty. In addition, you can visit the Arab Quarter of Benacacira, the Jewish Quarter of Azoque, the Morisco del Arrabal neighborhood, and the Medieval Christian Quarter. Thus, you will combine the history of the different neighborhoods with the vegetation and the natural environment.

ALICANTE

Circular path of Bèrnia, a path of contrasts

The circular path of the Sierra de Bèrnia is one of the most complete routes in Alicante. During the tour, started at the Casas de Bèrnia, you will cross the beautiful Forat, a natural tunnel that crosses the mountain, and that will take you shortly afterwards to the Bèrnia Fort. A few steps further you will reach the Coll de Xaló, to then return to the starting point.

This route has an average difficulty, it is fully signposted and the estimated time of completion is 4 hours. It is very rocky at some points and requires 2 simple climbs, but you will be amazed by the contrasts that the ride will offer you.

Cliffs of Benitatxell, from cala en cala

The Poble Nou de Benitatxell hides an attraction to enjoy a beautiful and simple hiking route: the cliffs. This trail starts at Cala de Moraig and reaches Cala Llebeig, a wild place with crystal clear waters. Along the way you will find different caves and an impressive coastal landscape.

From Cala Llebeig you can lengthen the route by the Barranc de la Viuda, where the sea will be left behind to give way to a beautiful area with a jungle vegetation.

These are just some of the many routes through which you can go hiking in the Community. Whatever your choice, it is convenient that you follow some rules so that the experience is perfect: be respectful with the natural space, do not make excessive noises that can alter the fauna of the area, dress appropriately, and do not light fires or throw butts that can cause it.
